Imac Reviews | Getting An IMac Need Advice? Is It Worth The Money?
Im homeschooled and i already have a laptop i got last year. But i need a PC because i use it too much (my laptop over heats). So I want to get the Apple iMac tomorrow. Any reviews? Advice? What is better or worse? Is it worth paying $1500?
The iMac is worth it. I am typing this on one. It takes minimal desk space, there is no tower, there are minimal cables. I am utilizing a wireless keyboard and mouse and I am connected to the internet wirelessly. The just cable is the power cable. The screen is sharp and bright. I have had one software package program problem in 3 years. There are no MacOS X viruses, you can’t catch anything by visiting a web site or opening an email or clicking on an ad.I assume you are looking at the 24″ model for $1499. You can get a $50 or $100 discount online at the Apple education store. You may also qualify for some free items.Mr. French & Ryan, the iMac is a “Desktop” computer, it doesn’t have battery, it has a 640 GB hard drive and 4 GB of ram standard.
No it may seem like its a great computer..but its got like no battery life..no memory storage..and me personaly it’s a piece of garbage..you can get the dell inspiron 1545 which is basicaly exactly like the Mac but more memory and more battery life plus its just like 500 dollars. So with the Inspiron your very getting more..for less. The mac is overpriced and its sooo not worth it. Hope this helps…:)
I heard that a mac laptop is better than pc because there’s a system on it that prevents all viruses. I personally think mac is much better because I have a pc and it heats up a lot. A friend of mine has a mac and has no problems with it. But, they both have their advantages and disadvantages.
Imacs can just run applications made by apple. which means a lot of files will be incompatible. for 1500 you can get a windows super computer that supports everything you need
Personally, if you are willing to spend 1500 dollars, I would look at other Vista/Windows 7 desktops/laptops. For 1500 dollars, you can get laptops with the same or better numbers (like RAM, Hard Drive, ..etc) in that range. For example the XPS One 24 from Dell has 4gb of ram, twice as fast as the iMac, plus a wireless mouse and keyboard. However, If you need a mac, the iMac is a pretty good computer. It is fairly robust with little error and surprisingly fast. Oh, and about your laptop. You can buy a $40 cooling pad if that’s your problem!
BTW, the others are talking about laptops, not desktops.
Macs are a horrible choice, an iMAC at 1500$ will have the same harddrive space as a PC at 300$, the MB323LL/A for example just has 1GB of memory, where as you can get a PC at 1/3 that price with 4GB of memory, and the processor speed isn’t anything to brag about. Save your money and get a PC (either with XP or with a free Windows 7 upgrade offer).
Personally I love Macs. My desktop computer is a Mac. My laptop (my main computer) would have been a Mac but they were out of my budget. They’re great computers – pretty easy to use, don’t need anti-virus, don’t crash (unlike Windows computers!), great UI, great programs made for them, great great great. They may be expensive but are well-made and designed. Some people criticize them, but to tell the truth they are just closed-minded and don’t bother to very give Macs a chance. Actually, most people who put down Macs have never even used one!
I think everyone needs a Mac in their life if they’re computer-savvy.
I say go for it, spend the money. It very is well worth it.
EDIT: Hey, some other idiot said on here that you can just use applications made by Apple. LOL! Trust me, I have one, that’s a load of bull. You can tell he never used a Mac.
