Personal Development Course | Geography Personal Statement… What Do You Think?
Heyy this is my personal statement i dont no if its rubbish okay.. if you read it thanks in advance and let me no what you think anything i need to cut out/add it
The English dictionary defines geography as “the study of the Earth and its lands, features, inhabitants, and phenomena.” What could be a better subject to learn about than the earth we live in and everything on it? The things I have studied in Geography are all around me, I can see them and relate them to real life, which is why I enjoy studying geography and hope to study it to a further level. I thoroughly enjoy my A level Geography studies, I find both the human and physical topics enthralling and also have loved all of the field work I have carried out. I am very interested in the geographical issues and am very curious about the world and how it works which is why I think I would be an eager and enthusiastic geography student. As well as Geography I am also studying Religious Education and ICT. I find both subjects interesting and they both have improved skills that will benefit me later in life. I am an active member of my school community; I play badminton after school and am part of the school choir. Last year I took part in a Home Economics enrichment course and receive my Level 2 award in food safety. On many occasions I have been elected Form Prefect for the term. I had many responsibilities in this role and it helped me to be punctual, hard working and mature.Last year I went on work experience to my local Primary school, this was a great experience and it helped my Interpersonal skills and gave me an insight into the working world. If I was successful in completing a geography degree I would hope to do a PGCE year and enter the teaching profession so this experience was very beneficial. I enjoy reading as it helps to improve vocabulary as well as written communication skills. My father has a subscription to National Geographic magazine; it has partly inspired my love of geography and encouraged me to study the subject.I play badminton for my local club, and also help to help train the under 12′s classes. This has made me a more responsible and reliable person. I also play Football and Camogie for my local clubs. Playing as part of a team has improved my team work skills and my social skills. Also playing at competitive level has made me a more driven and determined person. From age 12-16 I took part in many cross community projects with Hostelling International. In these projects I further developed my team work skills. Working in groups to meet deadlines also helped me show my initiative and good judgment. I later became a registered volunteer for the organization. I helped organize and take part in fundraising events and worked with children from different areas of Northern Ireland as well as Spain and Italy. This has made me a more enthusiastic and responsible person. Being in charge of a group also developed my leadership abilities. I successfully completed the Explorer and Western challenges at Gortatole outdoor activity centre. The weeks at Gortatole helped me to develop a wide range of skills such as my diplomacy skills.Additionally, I have taken part in other charity work. I was involved in fundraising for the special Olympics, working at bag packing events and selling tickets to raise money. I am currently completing an OCN accredited personal development course which helps participants to discover strengths and develop skills. In school I took part in a Eucharistic Minister training program, and am now a practicing Eucharistic minister in my local church.I am very dedicated to my current studies and think I would carry this dedication through to university education. I am an enthusiastic student and enjoy and am eager to learn new things, and I think I would really make the most of a university degree. I am motivated and determined to reach my goals and think I would contribute well to the academic and also social side of university life, all whilst enjoying my geography studies.the courses im applying to are mainly AAB ABB i have AAA at AS Level but i just wonder does my PS live up to that or let me down a bit..
I would say this is a solid Personal Statement, It is very detailed and extensive, and all around much longer than most in my opinion, this clearly shows you’ve done a great amount of work and signals to readers that you care about what you do, good job!
